Etiquette
Always reminding your children to mind their manners? The ettiquite class will teach the students how to behave appropriately when using the telephone, when meeting someone new and in formal dining settings. Role play and modeling will be used to help the children understand the importance of good manners in all situations. Students will receive a workbook to keep for future reference and will have fun learning to be polite and poised in all situations. |

Mind Lab
Teaching kids to think “outside the box”, mind Lab offers a unique approach for development and training of thinking abilities and life skills through thinking games. DCS students in first through sixth grade will have the opportunity to participate in this program which will allow the students to learn academic skills through game play. Some of the games introduced this session include Quarto, Abalone, Chinese checkers and Mancala. Mind Lab is a multi-level, multi faceted academics enhancement tool. Students will experience a brand new curriculum this semester. |

Chess
Check mate! Due to popular demand we are creating a third chess group. This proven effective program will benefit the students by enhancing social skills, building confidence and analytical thinking abilities. All skill levels are welcome. No previous chess experience is necessary. |

Violin
We are thrilled to be able to offer DCS students the opportunity to experience the joy of music. Students in grades 1-6 will have the chance to join our violin classes. The lessons are taught by enthusiastic, motivational and highly qualified musicians. Parents will be invited to listen to a mini concert after the second class! The cost of the session includes the rental of the instrument, as well as a musical accompaniment CD and a workbook. |

Spanish
Say “ hola” , to a new Spanish class being offered afterschool. Students in grades 2-5 will spend an hour each week immersed in the Spanish language. Students will learn through role play, songs and repetition how to use vocabulary correctly when speaking and writing. This 6 week course is geared for beginners who are not fluent in speaking Spanish. |

Mandarin Chinese
All New! Mandarin Chinese is the most widely-spoken language in the world. This semester's classes will be taught by a DCS parent who is fluent in Mandarin, with several years experience teaching the mandarin curriculum and is excited to be introducing our students to her culture. Students will learn important pronunciation skills and new words as well as the strokes necessary to write the Chinese letters. Exciting motivational awards await students who actively participate in class. Students will enjoy learning a new and challenging language in a fun and structured environment. |
